The NODN was founded as an informal group in 1988 by Economic
Development Officers from eight member communities in Northwestern
Ontario. Formally incorporated in April of 1991, the Network today
is membership-driven and is comprised of members in the
Northwestern Ontario region.
The NODN has grown to be seen as a window into Economic
Development in Northwestern Ontario. Outside agencies approach the
NODN for assistance and direction in receiving comment and reaction
from the community economic development agencies throughout the
region.
With financial assistance from
Industry Canada/FedNor , the Ministry of
Northern Development and Mines , and membership revenues and
projects, the NODN has been able to help the communities of
Northwestern Ontario take control of their own economic planning
and exercise bottom-up decision-making.
This website has been developed to encourage dialogue and
information sharing between partners in our communities and across
the region.
