The purpose of this document is to help turn the vision of an expanded industry into a reality by providing some strategic direction and recommendations to a) the industry, b) the Ontario Government, and c) local municipalities.

This document firstly describes the granite dimension stone industry in Northwestern Ontario, both historically and as it currently exists. It also describes the result of past and current exploration carried out by the industry, including descriptions of some of the deposits in the region having potential for future development. This is followed by a description of some programs and studies by the Government of Ontario (MNDM) and certain municipalities that further confirm the potential of the region.
